ReSound Sensia is a new premium hearing aid family from GN Hearing, designed to solve a common frustration with AI-powered hearing aids: focusing on the wrong voice, or mistaking background music for the sound you want to hear. Building on the small size and long battery life of ReSound Vivia, Sensia adds a new automatic sound-processing system that decides on its own when and how to apply its most powerful speech-in-noise features. The goal is simple. You put them on, and you hear, without needing to switch programs or adjust settings in an app.

Intelligent All-Around Processing

Sensia's automatic program, called Intelligent All-Around, combines three technologies. AcoustIQ classifies your sound environment and decides which features to engage. A binaural four-microphone beamformer, meaning both hearing aids share their microphones to work as a team, gives preference to speech from the direction you are facing.

Deep Neural Network (DNN) denoising, a form of AI trained to tell speech apart from other sounds, then reduces competing voices and distractions around the person you are talking with. Together, these features are designed to lift the conversation you are following rather than locking onto the loudest voice in the room.

AcoustIQ: The Conductor Behind the Sound

Even the best features only help if they turn on at the right moment. AcoustIQ acts as the conductor of the system, recognizing whether you are in quiet, noise, or speech in noise and engaging directionality and noise reduction accordingly. GN refined this system using anonymized data from more than 250,000 connected Vivia users, learning when wearers wanted extra help in noise.

Sensia also deliberately does not classify music automatically, since a hearing aid cannot know whether you want to hear the band or the person across the table. Music listening remains a program you choose.

Styles and Technology Levels

Sensia is available in a rechargeable microRIE (micro receiver-in-ear), size 312 and size 13 RIE models, a nonwireless CIC, a wireless ITC, and rechargeable ITC and ITE custom styles. Sensia 9 microRIE includes the full automatic Intelligent All-Around system. Sensia 7 offers DNN processing and Clear Focus beamforming through a manually selected hearing-in-noise program.

Custom models use Clear Focus directional processing but do not include DNN denoising at launch. Every model carries an IP68 rating for protection against moisture and debris.

Battery Life and Connectivity

The rechargeable microRIE and ITC/ITE models are rated for at least 24 hours of use, with up to roughly 30 hours depending on usage, and GN is introducing a smaller premium portable charger. Sensia supports Bluetooth Low Energy Audio and Auracast, which is fully functional at launch rather than dependent on a future update.

Auracast lets theaters, airports, and other venues broadcast audio directly to your hearing aids, selectable through the ReSound Smart 3D app. At least one RIE model also includes a telecoil.
