Audiology and Hearing
Healthcare Services and Treatment

Hearing loss is not just a function of aging. Universal Newborn Hearing screenings exist because hearing loss occurs with infants, toddlers, children, and adults. The causes of hearing loss vary from genetic influences, excessive noise exposure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and smoking (including second hand smoke), ototoxic medications, and recurrent ear infections. Excessive cerumen (ear wax) - if impacted - or middle ear infections can cause mild to moderate hearing loss in an infant or child. This can significantly impede on their speech-language and learning development.

The importance of ruling out a medical condition is essential in the treatment of hearing loss and Dr. Martinetti, Certified Audiologist, will work closely with your physician to obtain the highest level of hearing healthcare.
